L&T Technology Services Limited (LTTS) has been felicitated at the 8th foundation day of Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA) for developing the world’s first Robotic Endo-training Kit.
Minister of Science and Technology Dr.Harsh Vardhan, who also heads the Health and Family Welfare and Earth Sciences ministries was the Chief Guest at the event.
LTTS Robotic Endo-training kit project was supported by GITA and the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The R&D for developing the kit was jointly carried out by India and the Republic of Korea.
The Robotic Endo-training kit is a surgical training robot that not only provides in-depth analysis of the patient’s anatomy but its instruments like the Master Tool Manipulator, Patient Side Manipulator, Endoscopic Camera Arm, Liver VR Feed have a seven-degree range of movement, allows greater precision of surgeries. Great effort has been made to keep the cost of the kit low to make it affordable for hospitals and clinics in smaller towns and cities where doctors could train on inanimate models.
Laparoscopic Urologist Dr.Ramalingam was the guide and mentor for the project right from its inception till launch.
Global head of Medical and Life Sciences at LTTS, Murlidhara Hoshahalli said that the collaboration with GITA and Department of Science and Technology had helped LTTS in making state-of-the-art Robotic Endo-training Kit.
GITA CEO, Ratika Jain, thanked LTTS for lending its engineering expertise in medical devices to create the Robotic Endo-trainer Kit. She said that it was in-line with GITA’s objective to explore emerging technologies in association with leading companies to foster a culture of innovation in India.
